“Building Robust, Productive Maternal Cows Is at the Front of Our Bull Design.”

Stokman Southern Charm P228
Turihaua Eastern Star R49
We made the very intentional decision to purchase Turihaua Eastern Star R49 because of his maternal design, female background and performance. So deliberate was the decision that we also used his sire Stokman Southern Charm P228 via AI in the same mating. We wanted to heavily invest in this maternal, productive sire line. And we haven’t been let down.
Grampians Hooligan N66
The bull we had to overlook EBVs for. And so glad we did. For his daughters appear to be the best maiden heifers we’ve had. Jono and Sarah from the Gramps have been kind enough to lend him to us through the years and he’s easily the most masculine and prolific bull we’ve had here. Our crew adores him.
Grampians Anchorman S014
We used Anchorman over heifers for one year only. He broke his penis early in the season and we made the quick decision to also AI him to mixed age cows. It was a good call. He was a bull Jono Reed described as ‘not much wrong with’ – which is a rare thing these days. Anchorman had a beautiful flat top, big hip and rib, a real fullness and square set whilst boasting a beautiful front end - all on proper feet and legs. A type we had been striving to breed. His head was only just good enough but still had adequate muzzle and bone hood over the eye. His dam and grandam are the best in the Grampians herd (in our opinion) and from a herd of the best cows in New Zealand. We rate them so much we went back the year after and purchased another bull out of Anchorman’s grandam the year after – look out for Trailblazer in the future.
Taimate Roy R38
The bull being thrashed across the world for his look and outcross application. He wasn’t so outcross for us. Even so, we are still learning how to use him.
Topgun and his Mavericks
Topgun knicked well with the Hallmark cows through his sons in our 2012 winter sale. We went back to use him and his two sons Dowding & Tomcat also. These cattle dominate the growth, power and look you’d expect at the front of the sale. Top weaners guaranteed and some terminal punch a bonus with this sire group.
Waiterenui Last Dance S083
Last Dance is a bull we are only able to see a glimpse of this year as a yearling bull over yearling heifers. He’s a sire you can expect a heap from in the future as a transmitter or strong maternal function, masculinity and hormonal balance. He has several smart bulls in the 2026 Grampians catalogue.
